The Call of Duty League Championship grand final last month set a league viewership record with an average minute audience of 226,000 viewers on YouTube, Sports Business Journal reported Wednesday.
The Atlanta FaZe took the title with a 5-3 series victory over the Toronto Ultra on Aug. 22.
Viewership for that match was up 10 percent from the 2020 title match, and in full the championship weekend garnered 17 percent more viewers year over year, according to the report.
Activision Blizzard -- who have been the subject of state and federal investigations due to allegations of a toxic workplace culture and gender-based discrimination -- are seeing rising interest in "Call of Duty" as an esport, more so than another one of its titles, "Overwatch."
The next game in the series, "Call of Duty: Vanguard," is scheduled to release Nov. 5. The CDL will switch to Vanguard for next season.
