The Baltimore Orioles placed left-hander Bruce Zimmermann on the 10-day injured list and summoned right-hander Thomas Eshelman from Triple-A Norfolk to start Friday's game against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.
The move is retroactive to Tuesday for Zimmermann, who is nursing left bicep tendinitis.
Zimmermann, 26, owns a 4-4 record with a 4.83 ERA in 12 appearances (11 starts) this season. He had a personal win streak of three decisions snapped on Sunday, when he allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 7-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Eshelman, 26, will be making his first major-league appearance since 2020. He has a 4-3 record with a 5.22 ERA in 22 career appearances (eight starts) with the Orioles.
Also on Friday, the Orioles designated catcher Chance Sisco for assignment.
Sisco, 26, is batting .154 with three RBIs in 23 games this season.
