Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews has been ruled out of Saturday's game against the host Edmonton Oilers, coach Sheldon Keefe announced.

Matthews aggravated an injury to his right wrist during Toronto's 2-1 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. He did not practice on Friday and is considered day-to-day by the club.

Matthews, 23, entered Saturday's action with an NHL-leading 18 goals to go along with a team-best 31 points in 20 games this season.

He has 316 points (176 goals, 140 assists) in 302 career games since being selected by the Maple Leafs with the top overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft.
