Sweeping power outages in Venezuela

Toronto News.Net
Thursday 24th December, 2009

Sweeping power cuts have been felt by Venezuelan industry after the government said it needed to save its limited energy resources to avoid mass blackouts.

Lack of water in the Guri Hydroelectric dam, which supplies much of the country's power, has resulted in the government edict on power cuts after a drought in the region caused the levels to fall.

Businesses that do not comply with the new measures will be told to close for one day.

Repeat offenders will be forced to close for three days.

It shows the old adage about not putting all your eggs in one basket is true.
There is too much reliance and to much pressure from urban eco warriors for wind energy when it has been proven time and time again you need a mixed, secure, controlled and predictable source of energy.

There is nothing more predictable and secure than tidal, biomass and nuclear energy supplies.

Wind is not eco friendly, controlled and more importantly does not provide jobs.
There is no point producing electricity if no one has an income to pay their electricity bills.
