US recovering more quickly now

Toronto News.Net
Thursday 17th December, 2009

Recovery from recession seems to be gaining strength in the US with a rise in the US index of leading economic indicators.

The index rose 0.9 percent in November, which was stronger than the average analyst forecast of 0.7 percent.

The index data are based on average weekly hours in manufacturing, initial jobless claims, stock prices and consumer expectations.

The index, which had fallen steadily since mid-2007, has now risen for eight consecutive months.
