Israel convicts nuclear whistleblower for violating gag order

Toronto News.Net
Monday 30th April, 2007 (Jim Teeple)

An Israeli court has convicted a former nuclear technician of violating a gag order for speaking with foreign journalists.

The case goes back more than 20 years and exposed Israel's nuclear secrets to the world.

Mordechai Vanunu was back in court, convicted of violating a court-imposed gag order by speaking with foreign journalists. Vanunu was also found guilty of attempting to leave Jerusalem through the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

In 1986 Vanunu was sentenced to eighteen years in prison after he gave an interview to a British newspaper detailing his duties at Israel's Dimona nuclear reactor, where he said Israel produced 40 kilograms of plutonium for use in hydrogen and neutron bombs. Since he was released from prison he has been banned from leaving Israel or speaking with foreigners.

His lawyers say he will appeal Monday's verdict. Leaving court a defiant Vanunu called the verdict a blow to democracy, saying information about Israel's nuclear program is widely known, and there is no reason not to let him leave the country.

"Everything is published here," he said. "All the bombs that Israel refuses to accept and admit that they have the bomb - they are here."

Israel's policy of so-called "strategic ambiguity" means that it neither admits nor denies possessing nuclear weapons. Based on Vanunu's revelations more than 20 years ago, nuclear experts concluded that Israel possessed hundreds of warheads, making it the sixth-largest nuclear power in the world.

Censoring the true… Only in Israel…

It is no surprise that Israel has nuclear power (all thanks to the US) and even though they havenât threaten anyone yet⦠having that kind of power with little care in the world about the Arab people (especially the Palestinians) is a dangerous issue. Jews have already nuked Palestinians land with their growth, if the people in charge of the WMD are anything like the itchy trigger fingered Jewish soldiers⦠man are we in for a surprise.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad âwiped off the mapâ speech doesnât exactly mean what the people in capital hill translated to be (anything to provoke a war). Having said that and not having the power to do so would be a stupid thing to say. The example is more like ânot to see Israel but Palestine for the name in that area on the mapâ just like it was before it was stolen from the rightful owners. We all suffer for this mistake today; you canât take something and expect the people youâre taking from to forget about it⦠especially land.

The wars we fight today all revolve around the beginning of the state we (not all) call Israel. Believe it or not, the truth is the truth no lies. Israeli people will disagree and call me Anti-Semite⦠America will follow and believe everything Israel says even if itâs not true⦠Arab (especially Palestinians) will suffer for not agreeing with Israelâs right to exists⦠American media (mostly controlled by Jewish executives) will continue to lie, brain wash, corrupt American kids with bad examples, get richer while doing so and protect their motherland at all cost.

The cycle continuesâ¦

I didnt ever hear Iran of saying these things. Furthermore you should read a post before you go spewing hatemonger material and some fantasy about wiping americans off the map. What planet are you on? Israel is in clear violation of the non-nuclear proliferation, yet they get away with this. That is what the post prior to yours is saying.

Iran leader calls for Israel’s destruction
(AP)
Updated: 2005-10-27 07:29

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Wednesday that Israel is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map” fiery words that Washington said underscores its concern over Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad waves during a conference in Tehran entitled 'The World without Zionism.'[AFP]
Ahmadinejad’s speech to thousands of students at a “World without Zionism” conference set a hard-line foreign policy course sharply at odds with that of his moderate predecessor, echoing the sentiments of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of Iran’s Islamic revolution.

The United States said Ahmadinejad’s remarks show that Washington’s fears about Iran’s nuclear program are accurate.

“I think it reconfirms what we have been saying about the regime in Iran," White House press secretary Scott McClellan told reporters in Washington. “It underscores the concerns we have about Iran’s nuclear intentions."

Ahmadinejad also condemned Iran’s neighbors which seek to break new ground in their relations with Israel. “Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury," state-run television quoted him as saying.

Relations between Israel and several Persian Gulf states have been thawing amid Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in September.

Bahrain announced in September it was ending a decades-old law banning trade ties with Israel. In October, Qatar said it was donating $6 million to help build a soccer stadium for a mixed Arab-Jewish team, the first such financial assistance by an Arab state for any town inside Israel.

Israel has been at the forefront of nations calling for an end to Iran’s nuclear program, which the United States and many others in the West say is aimed at acquiring weapons of mass destruction. Iran insists the program is for generating electricity.

Referring to Palestinian suicide bomb attacks in Israel, Ahmadinejad said: “there is no doubt that the new wave in Palestine will soon wipe off this disgraceful blot from the face of the Islamic world."

Ahmadinejad’s speech came hours before a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in the Israeli town of Hadera, killing five people. Iran aids several militant Palestinian groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, with support and training through proxies among Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas.

“Ahmadinejad has clearly declared the doctrine of his government," said Mohammad Sadeq Hosseini, an expert on Middle Eastern affairs. “He is returning Iran to the revolutionary goals it was pursuing in the 1980s."

Reacting to the Iranian president’s speech, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said Ahmadinejad and Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar “speak openly about destroying the Jewish state ... and it appears the problem with these extremists is that they followed through on their violent declarations with violent actions."

Ebrahim Yazdi, a former Iranian foreign minister, said Ahmadinejad’s remarks harmed Iran.

“Such comments provoke the international community against us. It’s not to Iran’s interests at all. It’s harmful to Iran to make such a statement," he said.

In Madrid, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos summoned Iran’s ambassador to protest Ahmadinejad’s comments. Moratinos said he rejected the remarks in the strongest possible terms.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Baptiste Mattei also condemned the remarks “with the utmost firmness."

Ahmadinejad became president in August after winning elections two months earlier. He replaced Mohammad Khatami, a reformist who advocated international dialogue and tried to improve relations with the West.

Iran announced earlier this year that it had fully developed solid fuel technology for missiles, a major breakthrough that increases their accuracy. The Shahab-3, with a range of 810 miles to more than 1,200 miles, is capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to Israel and U.S. forces in the Middle East.

First its Koran or Qur'an

Wise Guy;25469:
1/ Osama never read the Coran, the Coran talks about Love of others. Jews were the first terrorist in history, remember Masada? Irgoun? Shin Beth and I. Rabin?
2/ Let them NUKE each other and we’ll have long lasting PEACE

Second Osama is part of the Muslim Brotherhood he knows the Koran.
I took the very first entry in a searh using

Violent hadith in the Koran and look what came up...Anyone with a brain can read and see the Koran is hardly a book of peace.

Islamic Reason for the Holy War (a Jihad)

The “Devote” Muslim has to be a “Fanatic, extremist”

The “Holy War” (“Jihad”) is most “un-holy”!... Terrorism... Suicide Bombers...
it has its roots in Islamic teaching, this teaching is based upon the Quran and Hadith,
and started by Muhammad Himself

Every Muslim claims that Islam is the religion of peace... however, here is another opinion by The Hadith of Muhammed: “Fighting and Sacred Rage in the Cause of Allah (Jihad): War, killing, and rage were the foundation of Islam, and it is the same to this hour in the heart of Ghadaffi, Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden. Islam is a religion of death and killing for their God."

Many Muslims claim Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. It may well become part of all our lives. Some may well ask, “Does it matter, for some in Islam are gentle people?" The truth is that while the sensitive Muslim is disturbed by some of the things done in the name of Islam, the expansionists uphold extremes:

“One Muslim extremist of the Islamic Liberation party reminded his interlocutors just before the scheduled opening of the party’s international rally in London in August, 1994, that 'there are 123 verses in the Quran about killing and fighting.' And he added, quite unnecessarily, 'Ours is not a passive religion.' Quoted from Fregosi, P. (1998, p.18).

Here are four of the 123 verses referred to above. [Note: the numbering of these varies slightly between translations.]

1- “O believers, fight the unbelievers who are near to you, and let them find in you a harshness; and know that Allah is with the godfearing” (Sura al-Tawba 9:123).

2- “Fight against those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger, have forbidden — such men as practice not the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book — until they pay tribute out of hand and have been humbled” (Sura al-Tawba 9:29).

3- “The punishment of those who wage war against God and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;" (Sura Al Ma idah 5:33).

The Quran encourages Muslims to fight, even when they would rather seek peace with those who do not wish to adopt Islam.

4- “Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." (Sura AL-BAQARA 2:16) The Quran

Most Muslims would say that these verses are misunderstood, but misunderstood or not, the history of Islam shows that many Muslim leaders have used those verses to spread terror. Islam, according to the Quran, can be spread by force.

The “Devote” Muslim has to be a “Fanatic, extremist”:

Suicide Bombers... good Muslims:
Many people argue that the “suicide bombers” are fanatics, extremists... but the fact is that they are “good devote Muslims”, following the teachings of the Koran and of Mohammed Himself... however, the good Muslims I know in New York don’t look to me like “suicide bombers”... and may be it is one of the reasons why we don’t get terrorism from American Muslims in USA.

Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was quoted as saying,
1- “Invitation first” (that is, call them first to embrace Islam).
2- “If they refuse, then war." “The sword”, said Mohammed, “is the key of heaven and hell; a drop of blood shed in the cause of Allah, a night spent in arms, is of more avail than two months of fasting or prayer: whosoever falls in battle, his sins are forgiven, and at the day of judgment his limbs shall be supplied by the wings of angels and cherubim."

This is a good reason for a Muslim to be a Suicide Bomber, or a Terrorist willing to die... because Muslims wish to have their sins forgiven. But every Muslim lacks this certainty, and some are willing to do anything to gain it. Thus, fighting for Allah (a form Jihad) is the way of many... a sure way to go to Paradise.

Much of the Islamic world is constantly in a state of confusion and violence, warring against itself... Many assassinations of Caliphs and other rulers have been made in the name of God by fellow Muslims:

Here is an explanation of these assassinations among brother Muslims by The Hadith of Muhammed:
“Allah’s Apostle said, “Allah welcomes two men with a smile; one of whom kills the other and both of them enter Paradise. One fights in Allah’s Cause and gets killed. Later on Allah forgives the 'killer who also get martyred (In Allah’s Cause)."... Here is a very important matter. We often wonder how Muslims kill each other and both parties scream “Jihad” as they kill each other. Mohammed says that Allah is happy to see them BOTH killing each other. The cause is not the point — just kill, kill, kill."

“Foreign Correspondent” (Australian TV) has screened some of the atrocities committed publicly by Muslims against Muslims. These acts were approved by the religious leaders of those communities. Sounds a bit far fetched? Some things have to be seen to be believed. Murder in Purdha , License to Kill (both of these programs and many others are available on video)

In The Name of Allah
My Grace is Sufficient for You by G.M. Naaman. It is about his life as a Muslim, the crimes he committed towards Hindu’s, and why he left Islam and became a peace-maker. Such stories are more common than you would think.

And the crimes of the recent past Massacres of the Khilafah

What will happen if most of the Islamic world is united under one leader (as in times of old), having the wealth and military might to challenge western nations? If the world is forced to accept Islamic Law, the world will not be a more peaceful place. Instead, the result of a world under the rule of Islam would be disaster. Consider that the few countries that have adopted Islamic Sharia Law are all disasters. Since it has been adopted by Sudan (1983), 2 million unnecessary deaths have occurred in that country, all due to Islamic oppression. This is the story of Islam.

We note also that while Islam is supposed to bring equality, in practice this has never occurred. The super rich are able to avoid many of the harsh punishments that poor people cannot escape from.

The Quran hardly mentions love, and does not encourage love toward non-Muslims. Love for example is only shown toward the Muslim widow and orphan. Other widows and orphans (eg.Hindus, Christians, Jews) have to convert if they wish to receive the same treatment from the Muslim community.

Sadly, every Muslim dreams of a world under Islam because he believes Islam is the solution to the problems that plague humanity.

Islam is a state religion by nature; consequently Muslims are automatically involved in the affairs of the state (politics). However, history has shown that ordinary Muslims will never have a real choice when it comes to the laws they are going to live under, as the majority of them are decided by their religious leaders. God, they say, has given his laws in the Quran and Hadiths (although the many conflicting opinions result in conflicts within Islam over these).

The comprehension deficient uncle toms...

Has a problem insert the garbage factory of his mind into other peoples words!

He does not try to find out what is being said. If its close to his own bigotry or lies, he thinks its a bible truth!

Well reading two of his post ought to convince even the moost skeptical, that uncle toms does not believe in any religious truths.

Some are victims of very poor Media in the US. But uncle toms is a product of a very poor mind.

I suppose it is a version of transference the he convert his thoughts into another person’s words. Maybe that is where his plagiarism comes from. Certainly where his misrepresentations!

If he bothered to find out what exactly was said and meant by Ahmadinejad, he is now simply post a lie. Ahmadinejad has said 'Israel' is illegal, and should be removed from the maps. Israel has no right to exist where it does. The so called founders in the UN had no right to select Palestine. If there was a place where 'right' did exist, it would have to be in Germany!

Such is far different than the 'interpretations' made by pUNDITS!

Which brings up 'Justifications'! Israel and the US run away from abiding by the UN Resolutions regarding Israel, from its formation to its actions against the UN Charater. If Israel want to claim its right to exist, does it not also have to conform to the Resolutions?

These are far different matters than the bigotry uncle toms posts! Because of the theft of my name(galljdaj) by uncle toms the site assigns the name.

galljdaj, these morons just want to spew more hatemonger lies that have no truth. They are betrayers of America siding with Britain and they cannot deny this. They just hope to gain some eternity or another by devouring the living god. They have some crusader fantasy that an innocent mans blood pays for thier sins. Riddle me this hatemongers, do you really believe that blood drinking pays for your sins? Or is this a way to commit the sins again and not feel guilty? Let’s look at who originally commited this blood drinking ultimate sin. His name was peter and he was hung on an upside down cross. He cut the christ and spilled his blood into a grail and drank it in hopes of gaining immortality. This is the basis for the british chritian religion, the crusaders, and thats why that grail is so important to them. George Washington hated the british monarchy and declared death before taxes. These hatemongers are happily paying thier taxes because they are sell outs and traders to our country. Oh shit I used the freedom of speech i must be a terrorist too.

Sorry Israel and Palistinian aggression is the reason for the problems with Lebanon and the fledgling state of Palistine not the rest of the world.

How do you explain all the violence occuring around the globe and the abject denial regarding violence commited in the name of Islam?

http://www.scaruffi.com/politics/arab06.html

April 2006) Connecting with the Muslim majority First, the good news: the vast (vast) majority of Muslims in the world are peaceful and, in fact, much friendlier than the average westerner. Just travel around the Islamic world and judge by yourself.
Now the bad news. There is indeed a problem in communicating with the masses of the Islamic world. The problem is not Osama or Zarqawi (who are criminals by any standard, Muslim or otherwise). The problem is the average Muslim, the so called “moderate”.
The problem begins with the denial. Muslims who are peaceful people (again, the ultra-vast majority) live in denial of what the Quran actually says. This is due to two simple facts: 1. most of them never read it, 2. almost all of them never read any other religious book of any other religion (thus they cannot compare). The vast majority of Muslims in the world are convinced that Islam means “peace”. Some of them even play word games with “islam” (which means “submission” and was used by Mohammed to ask for an enemy’s surrender) and “salam” (which means, more or less, “peace”). The good news, again, is that these Muslims are strong believers in peace, and twist their religion to turn it into a religion of peace. The “denial” lies in the fact that Islam is just the opposite. No matter how you “interpret” it, there is no question that Mohammed is the only founder of a major religion who personally killed people, who personally launched a war of conquest, who personally founded a political entity (the Arab empire). There is no question that his followers went on a rampage and conquered a large area of the world from Spain to Iran in the name of his religion. There had been empires before, and all of them had been as brutal as the Arab empire, but the Arab empire was the first one to be “religious” in nature. The Egyptian, Persian, Roman empires did not use religion as a pretext to invade their neighbors: they invaded their neighbors because they wanted to expand. (In fact, they did not care what religion the conquered people wanted to continue worshipping). The followers of Mohammed were the first ones in history to kill, invade, conquer and annex in the name of a god. (Their great invention was later copied by the Christians).
Ultimately, Mohammed’s followers carried out all these bloody wars because that is what Mohammed commanded, that is the essence of the Quran. Any non-Muslim who reads the Quran is shocked by the violence that it contains. It is even more shocking to hear Muslims who claim that there is no violence in the Quran. Needless to say, that “is” the problem. If you think that killing is not an act of violence, then you indirectly justify terrorism, which, by these standards, is not a big deal. (Muslims are routinely offended by anyone who calls Mohammed a “terrorist”, but Mohammed himself said that his goal was to inspire “terror” in the heart of the infidels: isn’t that precisely the aim of today’s terrorists?).
Paeceful (“moderate”) Muslims have to deny these simple facts. They are offended if you tell them “Mohammed killed” (a fact that no Islamic scholar ever denied) or if you tell them that all the territories from Morocco to Iran are “occupied territories”, occupied by the Arabs (Muslims routinely think of “occupied territory” as a territory that used to be Muslim and it is now controlled by a non-Muslim country, such as Israel or Spain). Muslims get upset if you tell them that the Christian Crusades were simply a reaction to the Muslim invasion of Christian lands (it was legitimate that Muslims invaded the lands of other nations, but it was a crime for other nations to try to get back those lands). Muslims even resent it if you tell them that they are Muslims only because someone won a war (had the Arabs lost the war, the people from Morocco to Syria would still be Christians and Iranians would still be Zoroastrians). The people of Morocco to Pakistan are Muslims not because Allah wanted it but because Arabs (and later Turks) killed more efficiently than the other kingdoms.
This denial leads to the “Muslim double standard”: it is not ok for the rest of the world to do what the Muslims did. It was perfectly ok for Muslims to conquer Palestine, the homeland of the Jewish and Christian religions. It is not ok for, say, one USA soldier to step into Saudi Arabia, the homeland of the Islamic religion. The Muslims of the world find it perfectly reasonable that the Palestinians (Muslims) want to control Palestine, despite the fact that Jesus (the founder of the Christian religion) was born there and despite the fact that Jews lived there a thousand years before the Muslims. On the other hand, Muslims would strongly oppose (presumably sacrificing their own lives) any attempt by a non-Islamic country to invade Saudi Arabia, the homeland of the Islamic religion.
If Muslims control Bethlehem and the other Christian areas, why shouldn’t Christians control Mecca? If Muslims want half of Jerusalem, the Jewish capital, why shouldn’t Jews control half of Mecca? If Muslims control the Indus valley, the homeland of Hinduism (a land now entirely inside Pakistan), why shouldn’t Indians control Saudi Arabia?
How would your Muslim friend react if a Christian, Jewish or Hindu army invade the homeland of the Islamic religion? Does your Muslim friend realize that Islamic armies have invaded and are still occupying the homelands of the Christian, Jewish and Hindu religions?
Muslims who live in denial of their roots and their history cannot answer these simple questions. Muslims who accept their roots and their history (such as Osama and Zarqawi) have a simple answer: because Mohammed said so, because the Quran says so, because Islam is a violent ideology of world domination.
Thus the good news is that the vast majority of Muslims want peace and twist the words of the Quran and the history of their religion in order to prove that Islam means “peace”. The bad news is that, by twisting the very nature of their religion, Muslims apply a double standard, one for Muslims and one for the rest of the world.
Last but not least, the problem is one of mindset. Islam invented the religious war, that, basically, did not exist before Mohammed. The religious war has remained very much in the minds of all Muslims. It is part of their education. It is not that they are trained to carry out a religious war: they are trained to “interpret history” in terms of religious war. They see religious war every time there is a problem between a Muslim community and a non-Muslim community. Where westerners, Russians, Chinese and Indians see only a problem between two entities (regardless of their religion), Muslims see a problem between a Muslim and a non-Muslim, and therefore a religious war. Christians have never been united on anything. The world wars were wars among Christians. Christians do not think of their country as a “Christian” country. Not even Christian fundamentalists in the USA, who gladly insult France any time they can. Not even the Pope, who prefers Islam to the USA lifestyle. Muslims, instead, look at religion first. They first look at the religions of the people involved in the issue, and then take sides. And guess which side they take. There is literally no Muslim who sides against a fellow Muslim anywhere in the world. Religion prevails. Every Muslim in the world sides with the Kashmiri independentists, with the Kosovo Albanians, with the Palestinian Arabs, with the Chechnyan separatists, with any Muslim group from the Philippines to Morocco. Where westerners are divided on most of these issues, Muslims are 100% behind the Muslim side, regardless of what the issue is. For a Muslim the issue is always a religious war, and therefore her/his duty is to side with the Muslims. For a Muslim the “issue” that the other side discusses is not an issue: it is only a pretext to wage a religious war against the poor Muslims. (When no Muslims are involved in the dispute, the average Muslim of the world is simply indifferent: ask your Muslim friends what they think of the civil war in Nepal or in Sri Lanka: they probably hardly know that there is anybody dying there).
Thus the almost complete Muslim support for the Iraqi insurgents in Iraq. It is not a matter of whether the Iraqis are better off with Saddam or without Saddam. For the Muslim masses, that was only a pretext for the USA to wage a religious war against the Muslims. Very few Muslims are interested in discussing what was best for the Iraqi people. Almost all Muslims are interested, first and foremost, in an immediate withdrawal of the USA. Saddam is ok (in fact, there never was a jihad against Saddam, there never were mass demonstrations against Saddam, there never were Al Jazeera reportages of Saddam’s massacres). A USA occupation is not ok, no matter what benefits it could bring to the Iraqi people. For a Muslim the issue is not the well-being of the Iraqi people but the confrontation between Muslims and non-Muslims.
Thus Muslims are sympathyzing and honestly suffering for the Iraqi people (and not so much for the Iraqi people who are trying to create a viable democracy and for the Iraqi soldiers who are trying to maintain order). But the same Muslims care absolutely zero about the people of Darfur, despite the fact that the number of people who are dying is almost the same and Darfur is much smaller. Muslims don’t care about Darfur because it is Muslims who are doing the killing. Muslims interpret everything as a religious war. If Muslims kill Muslims, then it is not a religious war, then it is not worth getting too upset. If one USA soldier by accident kills one Iraqi civilian, that “is” worth getting very upset about it. Muslims never demonstrated against the massacres of the Taliban, but they demonstrated when the USA accidentally bombed a village in Afghanistan during the war against the Taliban. This has nothing to do with a Muslim’s willingness to live under the Taliban: most likely, only a tiny minority of Muslims would like to live under the Taliban. But most Muslims conceive the USA invasion of Afghanistan not as a liberation of “people” oppressed by brutal dictators, but as a religious war waged by a Christian power against “Muslims”.
Thus we never see Muslims demonstrating in the streets against whatever crimes other Muslims commits. There have never been massive Muslim demonstrations against the terrorism in Kashmir or in Israel, or against the dictatorships of Syria and Iran. The only demonstrations against terrorism take place when the victims are Muslims (for example, recently in Jordan) and they routinely turn into demonstrations against Israel and the USA (in the face of the evidence that the perpetrators were Muslims). The Muslim mindset is that all these unpleasant events are part of a religious war. Since even the worst terrorists are, ultimately, on the side of Islam, and even the best infidels are, ultimately, enemies of Islam, then the “moderate” Muslim has to find excuses to justify the terrorists and excuses to criminalize the infidels.
kosovo was a case in which a Christian country (the USA) bombed a Christian country (Serbia) to protect an Islamic community. There was no Muslim in the world who complained about this USA attack against Serbia. The same Muslims who protest against the liberation of Afghanistan or Iraq were more than happy to see the USA defend the Muslims of Kosovo. The same Muslims who march in the streets whenever the USA accidentally kills an Afghani civilian were more than willing to accept that some innocent Serbian civilians would die in the USA bombing of Serbia.
Muslims are brainwashed as children to think of every world event as a religious war, and a Christian who bombs a Christian is not a religious war, therefore it is ok. Not only ok: it fulfills the Quran’s will. No Muslim has stopped one second to ponder that Kosovo is the homeland of the Serbs. How would the same Muslims react if a non-Muslim minority became a majority in Mecca and the USA bombed Saudi Arabia to protect that minority against the Muslims?
Thus the first problem is one of denial. The second problem that derives from the first one is the double standard. And then the Muslim perception that every crisis in the world must be viewed as a religious war: Islam against non-Islam. Then we have the clash between Muslims and the rest of the world (USA, Europe, Russia, China, India, Philippines, you name it). Wherever there is Islam, there is a war.
De facto, Islam is the last problem left in the world. The great powers are at peace for the first time in the history of the world. But don’t expect Muslims to realize that their religion is the last problem in the world. For them it is the rest of the world that is at war against their religion. Their religion means “peace”.
Unfortunately, the only way to change this situation is to teach Muslims the truth that they never wanted to learn about their prophet and their religion: that Islam means “war”. When Muslims face this fact (the same way that Catholics eventually faced the truth about the Popes), we will be on the right track to solve the last major problem, and we will be very close to a world without wars.
Sooner or later, Muslims have to start telling their children the truth. The truth is actually very simple. In those days it was good to kill enemies. Every Muslim historian of the past centuries emphasized that Mohammed personally killed his enemies (and raped their women). In those days it was considered a good thing to do. That “is” what made Mohammed credible to the yes of his people: he killed his enemies and won the war. Trying to deny that Mohammed killed is like trying to deny that Julius Caesar or Napoleon killed. They all killed because in those days it was good to kill, even to kill people who had not hurt you. They all built empires because they killed the people who did not want to “submit” (islem). His companions continued his religious war and forced all the people from Spain to Iran to “submit” (islem). In those days it was considered a good thing that some warriors defeated so many people and conquered so much territory. In those days nobody doubted that it could be reprehensible to kill so many innocents. It is pointless to try to deny that it happened, just like it would be silly to deny that the Roman Empire or the Persian Empire or the British Empire killed a lot of innocents. That is how Islam spread. That is why a Muslim is a Muslim: because her or his people were subjected by the Muslims. The Quran embodies this imperial philosophy. Sooner or later, Muslims have to start telling their children this very simple truth. There is actually little to be ashamed, because all civilizations did the same, and in any case we live in age in which children are not considered responsible for the sins of the fathers. Muslims need to face the simple fact that Mohammed was a warrior, that his followers were an army, that Islam was an empire (the first religious empire), and that today we live in a different world, in which warriors, armies and empires are no longer welcome.
The rest of the world too has to help by stating loud and clear that the behavior of Darius, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, etc is something of the past, and today we don’t believe in invading neighbors at will. We can blame the Muslims for not telling their children the truth about Mohammed and the Islamic empire, but we also have to blame the French prime minister Villepin for hailing Napoleon as a hero and thousands of Italian teachers for teaching that Julius Caesar was a hero. The entire planet has to agree once and forever on what is “good” and what is not “good”. Invading, killing and destroying people who have not provoked us is not good in our age. It was accepted and even encouraged in the past, but today we do not want anyone to be inspired by those brutal conquerors, whether it was Darius, Caesar, Mohammed, Napoleon or the British army. We want peace.

Islam: Why the Violence?

This article follows History and Origins: The Life of Muhammad.

See also The Qur’an: Verses of Violence

The only thing more shocking than the ridiculous level of violence coming out of the Islamic world is the genuine indifference shown by most of those Muslims who are not directly involved. Though the number of terrorists is relatively small, they are sustained by the apathy of hundreds of millions, even in the heart of the Western world. One of the biggest questions asked in the aftermath of 9/11 was, Wheres the outrage? as Americans had trouble understanding why Muslims did not act as people of other religions would have in the wake of a horrific mass murder committed in the name of their faith.

The simple fact is that Islam is not like other religions. The roots of the faith, the history, and the teachings from basic texts compel both the violence and the broad indifference that sustains it. Despite the drive that Westerners have to believe that other people are just like them, and that other religions are just like theirs, it is anti-intellectual to ignore the stark evidence that demands otherwise.

Clever fifth column groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), have learned that multiculturalists can be easily manipulated with tactical language that includes broad, but ultimately meaningless, condemnations against terror and periodic declarations that innocents are not legitimate targets for Jihadis.

Although fooling some into believing what they want to believe, astute observers recognize that these groups almost never define their key terms, such as terror attacks and innocents, and that a tiny minority of attacks are specifically denounced. CAIR, for example, only acknowledged eighteen acts of terror in the four years following 9/11 less than 1/2 of 1% of the actual number of documented attacks.

So what explains the violence and the level of comfort that many Muslims have with those who kill in the name of Allah?

Given that Islams founder was a military leader who personally conducted terror attacks on caravans, led offensive battles against communities in order to steal and subjugate, who took slaves, broke truces, supervised the execution of captives, advocated the murder of Jews, and even advised his warriors on raping women captured in battle, the wonder is that there isnt more violence than we see today.

Immediately following Muhammad’s death, the “Religion of Peace” turned against itself in a bloody fratricide that continues to this day in the form of sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni. Muhammad’s own companions and relatives fought each against other. Three of the first four caliphs were murdered, and many other early Muslims lost their lives including the nearest members of Muhammad’s family.

Muhammads martial philosophy has been faithfully practiced by his followers, who obeyed his commands to wage Jihad (holy war) against unbelievers, and succeeded in spreading Islam by the sword throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and well into Europe.

Unlike the Crusades, for example, which were founded on papal proclamation and not Christian scripture, there are literally dozens of verses in the Quran that exhort violence against people who do not follow the ways of Allah as dictated by Muhammad, and only a handful that could be construed as suggesting tolerance. There are literally hundreds more that speak of hate toward unbelievers

Unfortunately, the more violent verses were spoken later in Muhammad’s life, which leads most Islamic scholars to believe that they abrogate the handful of earlier, more tolerant ones (as is the tradition with other parts of the Qur’an that are in contradiction). Muhammad and his followers did not have power over the people around them at the time that the more peaceful verses were spoken. As the balance of power shifted, so did the strategy of winning detractors over, from the use of deception to outright military force.

These militant verses, combined with Wahabbi teachings (a radical and violent strain of Islam), are being drummed into the heads of children in religious schools called madrasses well before they are able to develop an independent moral character. Radical mosques throughout the globe do their best to reinforce rigid personalities that are unable to see the world in anything other than dualistic terms, where there is only Dar al-Salaam (the believers) and Dar al-Harb, which literally means the house of war and refers to those outside the faith.

The goal of existence, according to the Quran, is a struggle for Islamic domination by any means including deceit and terror, which were both practiced by Muhammad. The world must submit to Allah. There is no other point to life, and this explains the near absence of cultural and technological innovation on the part of Muslims in history, who merely borrowed from the hapless souls they conquered. Knowledge outside of religious teachings is not encouraged, except as it contributes to Islamic goals.

This two-dimensional thought process is responsible not only for the astonishing apathy toward the victims of Islamic violence on the part of those who are trained to view the world in such simplistic terms, but it also explains the dismal economies of Muslim countries. Though the religion comprises about a fifth of the worlds population, for example, the Arab countries combined have non-oil GDP numbers that are lower than the state of Louisiana.

The Middle East before the time of Muhammad was mostly made up of Jewish and Christian communities in addition to some who practiced pagan and polytheistic religions. Within a century, these people were brought under the heel of rulers who had no interest in them beyond what could be squeezed from them in the form of the jizya (tax on unbelievers).

Slowly, the subjugated began to lose their cultural identity under the pressures of a brutal system that discriminated against them even to the point of stealing their children to make them into Fedayeen warriors in foreign campaigns. Entire populations were consumed.

Most felt they had no choice but to convert to Islam, sacrificing their religion, identity and culture to their masters. Once a person professes Islam, they can only recant on penalty of death. The system is also skillfully set up to ensure demographic triumph by allowing a Muslim man to marry women outside the faith, provided that the children are to be raised Muslim.

By feeding on conquered populations, Islam expanded with an unquenchable appetite, quickly threatening the very center of the Christian world, Constantinople. The siege of this city in 670 exposes the biggest fib that that contemporary Muslims like to tell about Islam’s military expansion, namely that it was only as a result of self-defense.

In fact, there were no Byzantine armies threatening Muslims when the fifth caliph, Muawiya, struck at the capital of the eastern Christian world. The citizens of Constantinople were surprised by the naval attack, even though they were well-prepared to defend against it.

More importantly, following the humiliating defeat of the Muslims, there were no “Christian” armies marching into the vacuum to capture land, as might have been expected had there truly been an aggressive threat to Islam. The siege of Constantinople, like the many other campaigns of Muslim aggression was about Jihad and the spread of Islamic rule.

In the west, Islamic fighters invaded Europe and conquered Spain. Attempting to overrun the rest of Europe, they were finally stopped by Charles Martel at Tours. In the East, the empire quickly expanded into the heart of the Indian subcontinent, taking an awful toll on Hindu and Buddhist lives as well as the destruction of their beautiful temples.

All this a mere century after Muhammads death. Such was the violent legacy left by the Prophet.

Through horrific massacres and cultural cannibalism, Islam maintained a stranglehold on its occupied territory. The reactive Crusades that followed, as well as the Mongol invasions, were mere setbacks in the religions insatiable quest for imperial expansion.

Constantinople eventually fell in 1453, well after the Crusades. Three days of looting, raping and killing followed, as soldier and citizen alike were butchered. Entire families waited in their homes for death or slavery. Churches were ransacked and burned, and a significant part of Christian and Greek heritage in the form of relics and ancient text were completely destroyed.

Jihad and genocide threatened Europe for the next two centuries until the Muslims were finally stopped at the gates of Vienna in 1683 by a determined Christian army of Poles, Austrians, Lithuanians, Germans and others. If not for their victory, and that of France’s Charles Martel on the slopes of the Pyrenees nearly a thousand years earlier, the lights of civilization would have been dimmed and the continent overrun before the great contributions to science and medicine could be made.

None of the technology that improves the quality of life for billions in the world would have been possible had the vision of Jihad succeeded. The medicine that we take for granted (that we ship to Islamic countries when they face natural disasters, for example) would not have been discovered, and the miracles of modern science would never have seen the light of day had the Prophets followers been able to take the rest of Christian Europe.

Since the religion discourages art, it can be assumed that there would have been no great Renaissance, as there has never been such in the Muslim world, and generations of scholars would have been limited to studies of the Quran and Sunnah.

Islams mandate to consume and dominate religion and culture means that there is little if any emphasis placed on advancing knowledge or improving life for future generations. Submission to Allah is the only mandate and Jihad is the highest duty. Academic contributions that are often attributed to Muslims, such as the mathematical concept of zero, were actually borrowed and preserved from the civilizations and people they destroyed, much as a looter might keep the ill-gotten gain that he finds useful. The Islamic world has never made a single significant contribution beyond religion and death.

This doesnt mean that the Muslim sitting next to you is a violent person, or should be treated as such merely by their profession of faith, but it does mean that peaceful Muslims can be said to be that way in spite of their religion. In fact, given the violent history and martial teachings of Islam, it is more of a challenge to explain why most of its members do not participate in warfare or terror than that many do.

There are at least three reasons why the violence is relatively limited.

The first is that Islam is succinctly designed to achieve total domination in areas where it is practiced. Utter hegemony in Muslim countries means a virtual absence of opposition, even in the arena of critical ideas, thus the opportunity for justified violence is reduced. Of course, this doesnt completely prevent terror attacks against religious minorities in places like Pakistan and Indonesia, where minority communities are completely powerless.

The second reason Islamic violence is more subdued than might be expected is due to the massive amount of global resources devoted to containing it. This includes not only the billions (perhaps more than a trillion dollars) spent by governments and private corporations worldwide each year to protect people from Muslim terrorists, but also the security personnel from Algeria to India that often pay with their lives to keep the planet safer than it would be if religious fundamentalists operated with impunity.

Imagine the number of planes that would be falling out of the sky in the absence of security. Air travel would quickly come to a halt. In Israel, defense forces currently kill over 95% of the Fedayeen attackers at the nations borders, and an untold number of attacks are thwarted preemptively by intelligence efforts and retaliatory strikes against leadership. The rest of the West also depends on such measures along with leading-edge technology to stop Muslims from fulfilling their dreams of slaughter.

The third [and most hopeful] factor behind the limited violence in the modern age, however, seems to be the natural law placed in most human hearts that dictates compassion to be of higher moral value than killing. This competes with the Quranic command to wage war against unbelievers until they either convert to Islam, are killed, or are forced to submit to dhimmitude (third-class status under Islamic law).

Many Muslims realize the discrepancy between radical Islam and traditional morality, and they seek to bring their religion in line with the modern age if only in their own hearts.

Reforming Islam is a monumental struggle that will take centuries. It is not a religion that invites introspection within itself or true dialogue with other faiths. Despite the millions of victims of Jihad over the centuries, there are no memorials to lost lives and lost cultures to be found anywhere in the Muslim world. This even includes the Armenian genocide of the 20th century, which claimed over a million innocents.

Whereas Western religion often inspires humility, Islam breeds personal superiority. Though rare exceptions certainly exist, the Islamic community is characterized by a general indifference to the lives and welfare of unbelievers. Anyone who doubts this should contrast the genuine outrage over periodic yet petty slights against Muslims (such as the recent Muhammad cartoons) to the reaction - or lack thereof - that these same people have when unspeakable acts of violence are committed in the name of Allah and Islam. Unless it occurs directly to them, there is nothing that approaches true rage over Islamic terror or honest sympathy for its victims.

And the terrorists themselves? In contradiction to other religions, the most devoted followers of Islam are likely to be the most unpredictable and sociopathic, not because they were born that way, but because it is at the heart of what they have been taught.

Muhammad’s legacy was an ideology that commands its followers to fight those outside the faith until they either convert to Islam or accept complete subjugation to Islamic rule. There simply is no such thing as an innocent infidel exempt from the threat of death - except those who demean themselves to subordinate status and pay the jizya to Muslim masters. Armed with religious teachings, today’s terrorists are merely continuing what was begun in the prophet’s lifetime.

Another one with a warped view of the world.

First and formost you have a distorted view of history from a distinctly Arab version.

When you see an unregistered post with pUNDITs, uncle toms, because of the theft of my name(galljdaj) by uncle toms the site assigns the name, or similar, be it known that you are dealing with/reading from a Islamofascist supporter who pretends to be American. He is here just to sow dissent and hatred. Most of us just laugh at his stupidity and theatrics.

Yes, I control my fate, not you nor your terrorist buddies. Take your racist attitudes, dump them in the nearest trash heap, and start by telling the truth for once.
